Amy Wright
"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one."
– George R.R. Martin
Welcome to my page!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Amy and I am a writer and a full-time teacher and student. I was born and raised on the shoreline of New Jersey in Long Branch but currently reside in Somerset County. In December 2021, I graduated with my MFA in Fiction from Carlow University in Pittsburgh. Since then, I have been working hard to produce work to be sent out to both small and large publications.
Although the manuscript I submitted for my MFA defense was Literary Fiction, I am an aspiring Adult Fantasy and Sci-Fi writer. My biggest inspirations are Neil Gaiman, Madeline Miller, and Margaret Atwood. Each of these authors has inspired sparks that turned into short stories or the whisper of a novel.
Make sure to check out my upcoming events as I add some creative writing workshops locally and virtually to the list. My workshops help support local, independently owned libraries and bookshops in New Jersey. There are several events in the works as you read this bio! If you would like to collaborate and host me for a workshop at your location, please feel free to use the contact me button.
